Right so when I go to IGN.com a massive DSi ad pops up and if linger on it too long with my cursor the whole page fades into this massive pic of Shigeru Miyamoto's dong...no I'm kidding, but it might as well. Despite being around 4000hrs long this advert manages to say nothing more than 'LOOK! Bigger screen!' An interesting idea guys, but what other features does it have? Oh a bigger stylus too! Well scratch my balls and call me Mary I gotta have one of those! Not.
Now if it was five years ago and I didn't already have a DS, then perhaps yeah I'd roll with a enlarged screen and be all like 'hey guys check out ma boy', but seriously another redesign? How many is that? Five? Hang on...DS, DS lite, DSi, DSi XL. Okay four but I wasn't far off. So this is the fourth time I'm supposed to care about Nintendo's touch-thirsty handheld. Please!
Now I see why it could be good for those grey-haired folks who appear in those TV ads - you know, the ones where they are playing Mario Kart over WiFi, with their 'hip' grandchildren, smugly promoting the benefits of virtual parenting - but that's only because their eyes are so beat they have to squint to see their own liver spots. Do these people even exist anyway? I'm yet to marvel at a pensioner sat starry-eyed on his bus route, 'pwning' some Taiwanese kid at pokémon.
The colour options of this new DS seem to suggest such a demographic exists, they come in either 'wine red' or 'dark brown'. Hardly the vibrant hues of the old GBC days anyway. Are the silver years of gaming finally upon us? Perhaps, although aside from 'Brain training' and '100 classic book collection' the DS's back catalogue resembles the christmas list of a spoilt five year old.

Handhelds is asposed to fit in your hands silly!
