Alice in Blunderland...heh heh

What a non-story this was. For the two people who aren't familiar with it, basically Odeon cinemas had a spat with Disney after they announced that Alice in Wonderland would be released on DVD/Blu-Ray in May. The average wait before a film gets a physical release is about 16weeks and well you only have to do a bit of maths to realise that a May release would mean it hits shelves earlier than anticipated.

Now I get Disney's argument: 'teh bitches aint shedding green on ol' DeeVeeDeez no more coz da filmz iz outta ppl's mindz by release day'. Yeah understandably a lot of people often don't want to splurge £16 on a 4month old movie, which after the hype has died down, has about as much permanence as a soggy biscuit crumb floating in a mochachino. Bringing the DVD/Blu-Ray release closer to the cinema release of a film does make sense and there are already talks of changing the standard gap from 16 to 12 weeks anyway.

The Odeon argument however made less sense: 'oi wos my cinemur going ta do wen dey ken jus wait for da DeeVeeDeez to cum out? Not loike I gots special 3Dee projectors and offa a unique expeerence...oh waytz!' This is especially nonsensical as everyone and their gran have recently forked out to see Avatar in 3D. Their appetites are wet for this shit man! How many people don't want to see a big 3D release in well...3D? How little faith do these projector monkeys have in their knuckle dragging audience? Even the most backward cretin knows that he can't play his DVDs in 3D at home and if he wants to see all that trippy-madhatter-stuff in its full glory then he's better off going to the cinema.

What's more the 'story' invited washy responses from many of the cast and crew, Depp concludes that 'it's for the people'...hmm okay but what about the DVD thing? Old Burton was also upset claiming he felt 'terrible' but then he kind of brought that on himself allowing Owl City to be included in the official soundtrack. Incidentally frontman, no frontboy, erm it's actually just one person, so erm that Adam Young lad from Owl City says that he is a fan of Burton and would like to do some 'film work'. Yeah, bit vague there mate, I know you have fireflois straddling your testes but do you want to be an actor or the guy who operates the lights? Bale, sort this out would ya?

What was I talking about again?
